Google is now trying to add features in Google Chrome in Mac. Google is trying to open files in Mac with chrome apps. For this feature, Chrome apps are registered in OS’X file associates. So that we could open file in google chrome apps.
To enable this chrome://flags/#enable-apps-file-associations flag and restart the browser.
Then you can get these on chrome canary.
In the above screenshot you can see that text app is now available to open any text files, this is because Chrome app redefined with file_handlers key in its manifest.
Now this feature is only being tested for Mac. This feature for Windows and Linux will soon arrive.
