Recently we came across NSA issues, where National Security Agency had been accessing all data in our smartphones like Android, iPhone and BlackBerry devices. German weekly news Der Spiegel had recently reported about these spying smartphones by NSA. And now Indian cyberspace and internet security sleuths have detected an Android virus which could steal our personal details, SMS’s and even could cause damages to our phone.

Google recently announced that Android had surpassed 1 billion connections of smartphones and tablets. And all these 1 billion connections will be suffering from certain vulnerabilities and the recent virus spreading out is affecting all versions prior to Jellybean.

Various cautions and suggestions had been flowing out from all sources to protect your Android phones from these vulnerable virus,

The sleuths of the national cyber security centre said, ”It could also send SMS or make calls from infected devices without user consent,”

The advisory said, ”An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by placing other files withsame name into an application package along with the legitimate files. The Android package verification occurs against the first file during installation. Thus, the crafted .APK passes the verification process and installs the second file. However, at runtime, other malicious file gets executed,”

The Computer Emergency Response Team-India (CeRT-In) said, ”It has been observed that a critical vulnerability exists in Android which could allow attackers to inject malicious code into legitimate applications which makes it possible to change an application’s code without affecting the cryptographic signature of the application, essentially allowing a malicious author to trick the Android device into believing that the crafted application is unchanged,”

The security agency said, ”Check for the permissions required by an application before installing, exercise caution while visiting untrusted sites for clicking links, run a full system scan through a device with a mobile security solution or mobile anti-virus solution, do not download and install applications from untrusted sources and download applications only from trusted sources, reputed application markets and Google play store,”

This is not the first time we’re getting a problem in Android phones. As we get lots of flaws and malware’s  intruding  our smartphones its better to move to the past and better use our old basic phone which does not cause any problem other than entertainment and memory issues which basic phones can’t afford. As we can get an alternative resources for entertainment, which has been already wide spread in our modern tech environment.

And what’s your verdict on these issues spreading widely on smartphones, just comment below.
